
He continued: “At first, we thought it was like, ‘No, that’s hooky, but that’s too much.’ So it went to the side, and then about a couple of years later, we slowly started writing those verses and, you know, some things are just waiting to become. So we were making an early indie record, and we were actually working on a different song and kind of went, ‘hey, let's come up with a background part with lots of ‘oohs and ahhs’ and that little chorus was born out of that. A few songs like the gospel tinged Carry You There and the introspective, effects laden Use Me Up remind one of Hanson's more recent efforts.
